Someone Has To Do It!

March 9th, 2018

The truck got a nice sized rock chip in the windshield that had to be attended to so  that was the first order of the day. We had a long list of things we wanted to get taken care back at Lucky too. We are still putting the finishing touches on the inside and rearranging things to free up some more space.

We headed to Patsy and Peters in the late afternoon just in time for Happy Hour and snacks. Later we had my Birthday dinner – which was awesome! Who doesn’t love ribs? Just when you think you cant eat another bite . . . there’s tuxedo cake for dessert! There’s an addiction waiting to happen in that little goodie!

We spent the rest of the evening playing Mexican Train (a dice game) that was fun and easy (and didn’t require any math)!

Hippo Birdie To Me!

March 8th, 2018

Since It was my Birthday I was queen for the day. We started with a trip to downtown Palm Springs for breakfast at the Broken Yolk. They were busy and understaffed so the waiter gave us a 2 for 1 card to come back. I’m sure we will – they have mimosa flights!  We didn’t have the Bloody Mary but it looks like a meal!

After breakfast, we stopped at a Rockys Pawn Shop that wasn’t like any we’d seen before.

Signed guitars, memorabilia, and quality jewelry, the diamonds had even been graded and certified. It was odd not to see tools and guns. Not that kinda pawn shop! The photos just wouldn’t work well because of the reflections but you’ll get the idea.

Around the corner was REVIVALS and what a cool store that was! It’s like a retail store with thrift store prices.Revivals

I loved these gently used white bar stools and they were only 50.00 each. A steal!

There’s also a part of the store has brand new retro furniture that I loved! You can look up Revival Store on Facebook to see more cool stuff!

My head was swimming with decorating ideas but luckily I got distracted by by maragaritas at Peter and Patsy’s followed by pool time.

At dusk we headed downtown to the Villagefest. The Marilyn below was a mural downtown. Villagefest Mural

The street is blocked off for the artist’s and vendor’s. Their stalls line the street under well lit canopies and they have a healthy crowd of shoppers. There was all kinds of interesting original art, jewelry and food. We popped into a few galleries too. These were my favorites from one of the galleries.

JP loved this guys crazy fish art. Too large for Lucky and a wee bit hard for me to fit into any decor that I had in mind. LOL!

After a late dinner at Ruby’s (a cooler version of Johnny Rockets) we made our way through the end of the fair and called it a night. It was a great date night and perfect Birthday!

A Little Getaway

March 7th, 2018
We went hunting for a few things we still need for the new trailer and found Target and Costco and were able to check some things off our lists. Its nice being able to use the KOA as a mailing address so we can order from Amazon too. We found 2 Goodwill Stores that we’re pretty amazing (super clean and well organized- no “junk” at all!) and picked up some movies and odds and ends.

My BD is tomorrow so we booked the night at the Palm Springs Oasis Resort (one of our VI Time Share Resorts) which was lovely and SO spacious compared to Lucky! Our place was a 2 bedroom condo with a den. We had the pool and hot tub across the way all to ourselves. It was a perfect little getaway.

This Is The Life!

Tuesday March 6, 2018

JP went for a pickle ball lesson this morning. Pickle ball is everywhere and from what JP read about it, 2 million folks love it! That # is double from last years amount of players! He had fun and wants to get a racket and see if he can develop some skills!pickleball
We spent the day with Patsy , Peter and their dog Derby who is sweet as can be.Patsy Peter Derby Sunshine, margaritas  and appy’s – what else could you ask for? Then off the the pool with our new bobbling noodles to visit and float until hot tub o’clock.

Patsy PeterPatsy cooked up a great dinner for us and we tossed around some ideas for plans later in the week. It couldn’t have been a better day!

Relaxin’

Monday, March 5th, 2018
We spent the morning trying to shore up business we weren’t able to do without internet when we were at Alamo Lake, then off to our cousins Peter and Patsy’s for a little lunch at Mexican place nearby.

Patsy and Peter 2018
After lunch we relaxed and visited until Happy Hour with Patsy and Peter’s friends, Brenda and Martin who here to watch for a big tennis event. They’re camped in the RV park in Cathedral City (where we stayed last time we were here) next door to Patsy and Peters place.  We had cocktails and appetizers –  and then there was cheesecake to top the night off ! We headed back to our campsite tired, fat and happy. Cheesecake

California Here We Come

Sunday March 3rd, 2018

Today was a travel day so we headed West through Quartsite. We’ll come back another time and stay a night or two since we passed on this trip for fishing at Alamo. We stopped at “Darlene’s Bakery” for breakfast and spent the rest of the afternoon driving to Desert Hot Springs Springs near Palm Springs.

We’re staying at Palm Springs/Joshua Tree KOA. It looks nice and clean and not a bad location. After setting up we had no choice but hit Wally’s since we’d been in no man’s land for a week and were low on everything. We’ll sleep good tonight even with the raging windstorm going on around us!

Lucky We Stayed A Bit Longer!

Friday March 2nd, 2018
JP was up early and back at camp by Happy Hour. He  was thrilled with his day at the Lake. The word EPIC came up several times. He caught lots of really nice bass!

We jumped  camp and visited our new friend “Crappie Bob” and his lovely wife Yvonne so we could hear more fish tales and have a cocktail.

My day was reading and writing and catching up on our business stuff. JP drove me to where I can get 3 bars last night and I took screen shots of my bank statements so I could use them to balance my checking accounts. How do I do it?

Ass and Bass

Thursday, March 1st, 2018
Our plan was to spend the next 2 nights in Quartzsite before we headed to Palm Springs, but JP really needed a couple more days to fish. So we moved to a new camp spot for 2 more days here at Alamo Lake instead.

I hear the burros all through the day and JP and other campers have seen bunches. This morning there was fresh burro pooh right next to the trailer. I’m not sure how I’d feel about opening the trailer door to a burro face – but I’m open to finding out!

JP got a later start on the water since we had to change campsites but the weather is holding and the bass (or crappie) were calling! He had a great day on the water!

Ah the Fishies!

Wednesday February 28th, 2018

Newly armed with a location he can drive to and row less,  He headed out even earlier this morning. JP was the first one to the cleaning station this evening, followed by one another boat but that was it! Catching was tough going today.  Fishing seems to shift from amazing to dead in a heartbeat. JP caught 2 bass and a nice crappie. He said it was delicious!

Wildlife and Fishin’

Tuesday February 27th 2018
JP was up and at ‘em today with a new destination on the lake. I spent the day rearranging in Lucky and eavesdropping on our neighbors (voices carry something fierce here) trying to gather secret tips on the lake for JP. The Park seems to attract as many ATV folks as fisherman and I heard one guy talking about his javelina hunt.

Alamo State Park

JP has seen coyote, bunnies, bald eagles, gigantic swans, pelicans, and burros. I have heard nothing but non-stop birds! Hundreds of them all talking at once! Day 1 it was kinda “Oh yeah, cool! Disney Jungle background music” but now not so much! It starts about 8:00 with the birds tap dancing on our roof and then the chorus begins -and goes on and on and on!

JP left early and had covered a lot of water in 2 hours of rowing to the spot he wanted and caught a bass. Not long after that the wind kicked in and all but 1 boat headed back to camp. JP was rowing against the wind so the last boater leaving gave him a lifeline – hooray!

We went scouting before dinner and drove around in a quest for a nearer launch so there’d be less rowin’ and more fishin’. Found it! It’s open and beautiful here with the hills and mountains around us.

Later JP found a friendly neighbor who seemed happy to share all of his fishing tricks for the lake over some Jameson. A good end to the day!
